ITANAGAR, Jun 2: As part of its ‘Mission Beautification’, the department of Urban Development, Daporijo successfully conducted its 3rd mass cleanliness drive cum awareness campaign in Dapo township area on BRO main road from “D’HIRIS complex towards Forest Tinali and adjoining areas.
Hundreds of participants from all walks – Panchayat leaders, heads of offices, officials, NGOs, youths, students’ organizations and general public actively took part in the programme.
As part of the resolution for weekly mass cleanliness drive to beautify Daporijo, proper disposal of garbage, mandatory possession of plastic portable dustbin in front of every shop/house, introduction of user fees in markets for maintaining the assets, using volunteers, putting up informative hoardings in vital location for awareness of mass, holding of awareness campaign/meetings in sectors, markets fortnightly will be carried out. The newly inducted Upper Subansiri DC, Tahang Taggu, while participating in the cleanliness drive assured the Market Committee to shift the existing meat/fish daily market near Rijo ground to a newly constructed DUDA meat market near Siggin bridge which he opined as most suitable from hygienic point of view.
He also appealed all the denizens of Daporijo to maintain their surroundings clean and participate in the weekly social service in the township area.
The UD being the host department of the weekly programme provided the participants with all types of aids tools and plants among other equipments.
