ITANAGAR, Jul 9: The Adi Students’Union (AdiSU) today staged a three-hour-long dharna in front of the office of DC,East Siang district at Pasighat in protest against the concerned authorities’ alleged failure to meet its demand.

Around 200 students from various schools of the township including D Ering Hr Sec School, IGJ Hr Sec School and JN College took part in the agitation, besides the representatives of RGUSU, Eastern AdiSU, Bosing Banggo Students’ Union, Legong Banggo Students’ Union and AdiSU’s East Siang and West Siang districts units.

AdiSU has been insisting the authorities to take ‘action’ against the SP, East Siang for his alleged role in disallowing entry to AdiSU members in a public function at Pasighat on April 27 last and for allegedly making a derogatory remark against tribal women.

At the ‘peaceful’ end of dharna, AdiSU submitted a memorandum to ADC, who is also the in-charge DC, demanding registration of a criminal case against the SP and his immediate suspension and transfer from Pasighat. It also demanded he should tender a public apology to AdiSU, ABK and tribal women.

The union claimed while responding to its memorandum, the ADC, who came out of his office to address the agitating students, “promised to apprise the matter to higher authority”.
