ITANAGAR, Sep 18: In a sheer delight to State’s karatekas, Tam Tapak will represent India in the 21st World Senior Karate Championship scheduled to be held in Paris from November 21 to 25 next.
The Arunachalee karateka will show his competitive skills in 67 Kg men’s individual kumite event.
Tam has been selected for the prestigious championship following his outstanding performance at the national level tournament in New Delhi on August 17 and 18 last where he won a gold medal.
On his selection to the Indian team, Tam expressed his joy for being chosen to represent the country in the international arena. “I was just thrilled when I received a call letter from All India Karate-Do Federation,” he said. However, he credited everything to his coach SD Sharma, (technical) Director, Arunachal Karate Do Association (AKA) and Likha Tara, president AKA. “Without their guidance and support it would not have been possible,” remarked Tam.
