ITANAGAR, Sep 20: The incessant rain for past seven days has once again triggered flood & erosion problem at Bijoypur I & III villages under Bordumsa circle in Changlang district.
On 23rd June’2012, Noa Dehing river outflanked its bank and flood water entered Bijoypur I & III villages and has left a trail of devastation. The same scenario with more devastation is being repeated from 19th Sept. Thirty hectares of prime agricultural land has already been washed away in two days, and unabated erosion is still continuing.
Kento Riba, ADC, B K Karki, EE WRD & Sanju Nair, surveyor WRD made an extensive visit of the flood-affected areas. The morphology of the river has undergone metamorphic changes, now the diverted course of river, at Bijoypur village is showing tendency for migration towards left bank. It is apprehended that a major devastation is in offing, whose reverberation will be felt all along the Bordumsa circle.
Unabated erosion is going on at Gautampur & Maitripur villages under Diyun circle. Villagers are pressing hard for taking up restoration measures for protection of Bordumsa & Diyun circles from Noa Dehing river. The WRD engineers are preparing DPR for flood & erosion control measures at the critical locations, said an official release.
