AALO, Sep 21: The 3rd Jumke Bagra Memorial Football Tournament (JBMFT) being conducted by the District Sports Association began here yesterday with West Siang DC Marnya Ete inaugurating the tourney.
The tournament opener saw an exciting match in which Darka SC played out a 3-3 draw with Kabu SC. The tournament being staged on league basis will come to a close on October 8 next.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC recalled the immense contributions made by late Jumke Bagra, former DIGP for the district as well as the state.
The beautiful football ground located in the heart of the town is the outcome of efforts by all and all other essential developments of the field and comprehensive proposal for turning the Aalo Club, located near the football ground into a Convention Centre has been sent to govt. for consideration, he said.
Further, the DC appealed the participating teams to maintain the spirit of sportsmanship in the tournament.
Kenjum Riba, secretary DSA said that the annual event aims to spot football talents and to promote brotherhood and understanding. (DIPRO)
