PASIGHAT, Sep 21: Flood situation continues to be grim in East Siang district with Pasighat- Pangin road and the power line remaining cut off due to rain-triggered landslides following damage of bridges and electric poles.
The gushing waters have not only damaged the standing crops but also eroded a huge area of paddy fields causing huge losses to Pokdum, Tekang, Gobo, Poglek, Labo, Bodi WRC field areas.
However, the approach road of bridge over Poglek Korong has been temporarily restored by PWD.
On receipt of news of heavy damages in various sectors, East Siang DC R K Mishra, accompanied by Nidhi Srivastav, ADC (HQs) and other officers visited Bosing Banggo. The DC instructed the DAO and the EE, WRD to carry out
immediate assessment.
During his visit to the flood ravaged areas of Mebo sub-division along with
ADC Oti Dai and PRI leaders, they interacted with Oni Jamoh, EE, PWD, who is supervising the restoration works of Mebo-Dhola road, which has been badly affected by the flood.
While visiting the badly hit bridges of the area, the DC also interacted with the villagers of Borguli village. Ngopok Korong has badly damaged the approach road of the village where the locals have constructed log bridge for temporary restoration of the road communication.
Overflowing waters of the river breached the embankment constructed by WRD at many places, threatening Borguli village with washing away of around 100 mtrs embankment at one point. The villagers have constructed ‘bundhs’ at vulnerable points.
Genom Perme EE, WRD has assured to provide men and materials to work on war footing for immediate protection of the village.
While appreciating the villagers for their community spirit, the DC asked them to unite in this time of emergency and assured to render all possible help to tide over the situation.
He also instructed the concerned officers to carry out their duties to mitigate the sufferings of the people.

Due to heavy flood in Terong Korong, the entire headwork of water supply and huge stretch of pipelines have been washed away rendering the entire Mebo HQs and its nearby areas without water supply.
An LT tower near Siku river has been washed away rendering the entire Mebo area without any power supply.
Following flood triggered landslides at various places, roads and bridges have been damaged on GREF road from Pasighat to Lower Dibang Valley.
Aying Perme, CO, Oyan informed that the flood has caused great damages to agri and horticulture cultivations. Due to heavy flood, Oyan VKV has to be closed down with some portion of the RCC wall of the school also getting collapsed.
Balom Apum, DHO informed that a huge area of horticulture plantations has been damaged specially in the upper areas. (DIPRO)
Meanwhile, Tony Pertin, a senior Congress leader, in a communiqué addressed to the Chief Minister’s office has called for providing immediate relief to the flood-affected people of Meka block in Lower Dibang Valley district.
Flash flood triggered by heavy rains has inundated agricultural fields and even damaged the ‘Geying Patang’ bundh besides disrupting road communication in the area. He informed that the flood situation in the area worsened today and the affected people were evacuated to relief camps at Bolung and Jia villages’ Panchayat buildings and Musup. Moreover, entire Paglam area under Dambuk block is reportedly inundated.
