Dai’s Echo of Arunachal: |
|
 |
|
Founder and former editor of this daily, Late Lummer Dai, aptly
called as Luminous Lummer in the literary circle, was a man of vast
knowledge, who was always alive to the situation around him and his
society. He may be more popular for his thought-provoking novels
written in Assamese, but ardent readers of this daily would also
remember him for his explosive editorials. His editorials are still
timeless…fitting comments on situations still prevalent after years!
As a tribute to this first journalist to reckon with from the state,
we would bring out for our readers, old and new, his editorials
specific to a particular situation at hand.
To begin with, we publish here one of late Dai’s editorials written
on July 8, 2000. First part of July every year is celebrated as
Vanamahotsava by the department of Environment and Forests.
